After yet another crazy year, it is for many of us in South Africa time for a break! However, the worries do not seem to stop: What does the future hold for Eskom? When will the draughts in many parts of our country come to an end? What about crime? Will my December payslip make it to January? Etc., etc.

Here’s the problem with those thoughts: Your innermost dominant thought becomes your outermost tangible reality. To put in in simpler terms: Whatever you focus your mind on, you will get!

Game on! Try these very simple steps to focus your mind on what you want as opposed to what you do not want. By thinking positively and visualising success, you can shape your life with your thoughts.

  1. Clear your mind

Become aware of all the noise in your head. You mind does not have an off button and unless you pay attention to your thinking you might not even realise how many negative thoughts you are treasuring. Whenever you catch yourself dwelling on everything that is negative; focus on things you can be grateful to; perhaps revisit my blog on The attitude of appreciation. Appreciation and gratitude continue to be cornerstones of a healthy and happy spiritual life.

  1. Be clear on what you want

You might have a vague idea of what you want; now it is time to become crystal clear on it. If you for example want happiness; what does that happiness look like? If you want financial freedom; what does it look like? Unless you can be clear on exactly what you want, you don’t know what to ask for or worse: you would not recognise it when it comes your way.

  1. Spend time thinking about how you would feel when receiving it

Your feelings towards the thing that you want would be a good indicator of whether it would be good for you. If you cannot attach any positive feelings towards it, you are most likely not focusing on the right thing. You should feel all the emotions that you associate with receiving what you want as if you already have received it right now. With those feelings, also feel the gratitude for already having received it.

  1. Keep your eyes peeled for the opportunities

When you are clear on what you want and can already feel all the positive emotions associated with it, your mind will become more alert to opportunities that come your way that will allow you to receive what you want. Stay alert for opportunities – remember, opportunities don’t arrive with a big ribbon and name tag. It is your responsibility to spot then and action them. The more you focus on what you want, be clear on it and experiencing the emotions that will go with, the better the chance that you will spot the opportunities. The process should this be at least a daily ritual.

  1. Trust your intuition

Very few people still listen to their inner voice; the so-called sixth sense. When you make time to quiet your mind, you will find that you already know the answers to all your challenges and already have received an opportunity to obtain what you want.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs over the last year. I wish you all a wonderful festive season and a fantastic 2020!
