An attitude of gratitude
We often spend so much energy on what we don’t have that we forget about what we have. In fact, it is so much easier to focus on what we don’t have and to complain about it.
When you wake up in the morning and open your eyes, are you grateful that you still can see, or is your first thought about the difficulties you have to face that day? When you set foot outside and it is freezing cold, are you grateful for being able to feel the cold or do you complain about the cold. The list can go on and on…
An attitude of gratitude is all about paying more attention to what you have than what you don’t have.
It has been proven that making appreciation a daily practice, lifts the spirit! When you have feelings of gratitude, you surround yourself with positive energy. The more positive energy you have around you, the more positive energy you will attract. Quantum physics teaches us that like energy attract like! Therefore, have appreciation for everything and everyone around you.
An easy way to ignite the attitude of gratitude is by keeping a journal of all the things that you are grateful for. Get yourself a notebook or one of the many Apps available for your phone. Set aside some time every day to write down or capture the things that you experienced that day that you are grateful for. Only three or five things will do and you will soon have a very long list!
To make this even more fun you can make this a family event and share your gratitude items with each other over dinner.
On the tough days when you cannot think of anything to be grateful fore, you can then look at your gratitude journal or App and find solace in all the items you have recorded.
Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul. Amy Collette.
